Dr Juan Carlos García Lorenzo
I received my PhD in English Philology (Linguistics) from the University of Santiago de Compostela in 2001 with a dissertation on synchronic and diachronic syntax. My research is focused on generative grammar, syntax and the architecture of language and the mind. I am also interested in the Renaissance. You will find more about this at the research section.
I like travelling, photography, nature, art, linguistics and teaching, though not necessarily in that order.
I am currently an English teacher at the secondary school IES “Nosa Señora dos Ollos Grandes,” in Lugo.I am also a mentor responsible for the preparation and follow-up of COMENIUS Individual Pupil Mobility actions (IPM).
What is my opinion about teaching? I will answer this question with a quotation from David Lodge's novel Nice Work,
"Teaching is nice work. It's meaningful.
It would be worth doing even if one wasn't paid anything at all."
